Jackie Leon is a New York based performer and playwright inspired by the subversive. As a first generation American and Afro-Colombian Jackie writes through the lens of shattered rose colored glasses hoping to inspire dialogue surrounding oppression and identity. Jackie's writing materializes itself through the forms of surrealism, science-fiction, absurdism and horror exploring themes of miscommunication, oppression, and desire. As an actor Jackie had always gravitated towards roles that were culturally specific and identity driven as well as roles that challenged the conventions of those identities.
This winter, Jackie will be making their Off-Broadway debut originating the role of Jessica in the new musical “Hell’s Kitchen” at The Public Theater with music and lyrics by Alicia Keys and directed by Michael Greif.
Additional performances include Rosie in "The Lesbian Play" at the Tank NY, Sara in "Saguaros" by Angelica Herrera at JACK, and participating in the National 24 Hour Play festival as an actor. They are currently producing their play “RASA” with Horror focused theatre company Scawwy Howwow Inc. Jackie received education and obtained a BFA in Musical Theatre from Marymount Manhattan College
