James Riordan is a Broadway, television and film actor based in New York. Television appearances include HBO’s “The Gilded Age”, the Netflix Limited Series "Halston" with Ewan McGregor, “Blue Bloods”, “Bull”, “Limitless”, “Person Of Interest”, “Public Morals” (directed by Edward Burns), “The Blacklist”, “Law & Order: SVU”, "Boardwalk Empire", “Dark Horse” (directed by Roland Emmerich), “White Collar”, “Damages”, “Law & Order”, “Law & Order: Criminal Intent", “Gossip Girl”, “As The World Turns” and “All My Children”. James had principal roles in the feature films “The Hoax” (directed by Lasse Hallstrom) and the cult horror film Choose and appeared in the Steven Spielberg feature The Post (starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep).
James made his Broadway debut with the company of Dance Of Death starring Ian McKellen, Helen Mirren and David Strathairn. He was subsequently featured in the Broadway revival of The Elephant Man with Billy Crudup, Kate Burton and Rupert Graves before joining the Broadway company of Noises Off with Jane Curtin. James played Frank Whitworth in the Broadway production of Jerusalem with Mark Rylance. More recently, James was in the Broadway company of Present Laughter starring Kevin Kline
James originated the role of John Ruskin in the Off-Broadway production of The Countess which ran for over 500 performances at the Lambs theater. Additional Off-Broadway credits include Brian Friel’s Lovers at The Actors Company Theater, Donagoo at the Mint Theater Company, Our Leading Lady at Manhattan Theater Club and the US premiere of Howard Brenton’s Christie In Love. He has played leading roles in regional theaters across the country including The Cleveland Playhouse, Arena Stage, The Wilma Theater, The Repertory Theater of St. Louis, The Actors Theater of Louisville, The Great Lakes Theater Festival, Two River Theater, Barrington Stage and others.
James recently performed in the world-premiere of the play Safe Home co-written by Tom Hanks at Shadowland Stages.
He has an MFA from Temple University.
