Lee Aaron Rosen (he/him/his) was born in pre-gentrified Brooklyn and raised in post-suburbanized New Jersey. He inexplicably attended Johns Hopkins University for his undergraduate degree, then came to his senses and earned his MFA from NYU’s Graduate Acting Program. He recently appeared in the Broadway premiere of Charles Fuller’s A Soldier’s Play, directed by Kenny Leon, which was awarded the 2021 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play. His other Broadway credits include the Tony Award-winning Broadway revivals of Angels in America, directed by Marianne Elliott, and Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart, directed by George C. Wolfe; and Clifford Odets’s The Big Knife, directed by Doug Hughes.
He toured the country playing Cliff Bradshaw in the Roundabout’s Tony-winning revival of Cabaret. Off-Broadway, he has appeared in Tom Stoppard’s Indian Ink (also for the Roundabout, directed by Carey Perloff); played the title role in Moira Buffini’s Gabriel, directed by David Esbjornson at the Atlantic; and was part of the original cast of A Contemporary American’s Guide To A Successful Marriage (dir. Adam Fitzgerald), which was an official selection of 2009’s FringeNYC Encore Series and winner of two Fringe Awards for Overall Excellence. Regionally, he has worked at the Old Globe, the Huntington Theatre, the Westport Country Playhouse, the Actors Theatre of Louisville, Ford’s Theatre, Center Stage, Barrington Stage, and the Williamstown Theatre Festival, working with directors including Rebecca Taichman, David Esbjornson, Marshall W. Mason, and Michael Greif.
On television, Lee will be recurring in the upcoming Amazon Series “Harlan Coben’s Shelter”. He has also had recent guest star appearances on “American Horror Story: NYC”, “The Equalizer”, “FBI”, “Emily In Paris”, “Blue Bloods”, "The Blacklist", “The Enemy Within”, “Elementary,” “Limitless,” “The Good Wife,” and “Person of Interest,” and co-starred on “Nurse Jackie,” “The Big C,” “Damages,” and “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” gleefully playing a variety of people you probably wouldn’t want to run into in real life. On film, he played opposite Jim Parsons and Claire Danes in Silas Howard’s film A Kid Like Jake; and can be seen in Sidewalk Traffic, directed by Anthony Fisher; Company K, directed by Bob Clem; and Marie Schlingmann’s short film Lawn Care. His first-ever professional acting job was in Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan, which gave him a rather unrealistic idea of what an acting career would be like.
In addition to acting, Lee has worked on the production of several documentaries, including Tim Slade’s The Destruction of Memory, Alexander Young’s R.E.M. by MTV, Michael Kantor’s Superheroes: A Never-Ending Battle, and Chris Bolan’s A Secret Love. He has taught acting classes and workshops around the country, and serves on the faculty of the School of Visual Arts’ MFA Visual Narrative program. He has also served as a longtime volunteer with New York’s 52nd Street Project.
